Take off Your Shoes

By Kathrine Sowerby

until only the mountain remains

—Li Po

 define boundaries—

sand-lined silhouettes

foundries younger than snow

 describe fear—

ringing pink arcs

muffled temples of flight

 and gravity—

hand in hand communities

wearing areas down

 blue dawn—

 neighbours blown

against one another’s tune

 about water—

bare shoulders

forward facing wingspan

 describe poverty—

 that bird loved
